FORT MYERS, Fla. –
Olivia Black swipes three bases to move to third all-time in FGCU's DI era in career stolen bases as Florida Gulf Coast University softball sweeps West Georgia with a 4-3 win on Saturday.
The game started with Black reaching first on an infield single to third and swiping second on the second pitch of the at bat for sole possession of third place in career stolen bases in FGCU's DI history. Black would then steal third before a throwing error by the catcher would allow her to come around to score.
Avery Viancos would score the next run after a single and some heads up base running allowed her to get to third for
Alexis Cowles to bring her in.
After
Allison Sparkman posted her second consecutive scoreless frame,
Sophie Wylie came up in the bottom of the second to hit her third home run of the season and first in Fort Myers.
The game-clinching run would come in the fourth when
Kalista Birkenstock came in to pinch run for Cowles and come home on a squeeze play RBI from Wylie.
The Green and Blue (20-20, 7-2 ASUN) start a road trip with away series against Queens (9-20, 4-4 ASUN) next weekend.
