Avery Viancos hit her first collegiate home run and the first over-the-fence home run in her life in the 7-3 loss at Stetson for Florida Gulf Coast University softball in DeLand, Fla.
Viancos received a pitch dead center that she drove well over the right centerfield wall for the no-doubt two-run shot. For the day, Viancos went a perfect 3-for-3, stole a base and reached by hit by pitch.
Emily Chiarella continued her exceptional weekend with a 3-for-4 performance to bring her batting average on the weekend to .778.
Olivia Black went 2-for-3 on the day, stealing another base to bring her team-high total to 17. Black has 62 in her career, one away from tying for third place all-time in FGCU's DI era.
The Hatters (18-17, 2-4 ASUN) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before Viancos' home run brought the game within reach at 3-2. A four-run fifth inning for Stetson would be the deciding runs in the 7-3 win.
The Green and Blue (17-20, 4-2 ASUN) return home to face West Georgia on Saturday and Sunday with a doubleheader on Saturday.
