Kellman pours in career high in FGCU win

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Keeshawn Kellman registered a career high 29 points as Florida Gulf Coast University's men's basketball delivered an 86-82 victory against North Florida, in an Atlantic Sun Conference matchup Monday night in Alico Arena.

This is the Eagles third consecutive win and keeps FGCU (17-13, 12-5) in sole possession of third in the ASUN standings with only one game left in the regular season. FGCU trails first-place Lipscomb (13-4) and North Alabama (13-4) by one game. The ASUN Tournament gets underway March 2 at campus sites.

Rapid Recap:
Both teams were locked in for the first 10 minutes and kept close with neither team being more than two points away. The Eagles eventually pulled away 28-23 but the Ospreys held on and tied the match 30-30.  With 3:19 left in the first half, Jack Reddick released a trey that was followed by a Kellman layup to once again give the Eagles a lead by five, 35-30. UNF once again rallied back and evened the game 41-41. Dallion Johnson wanted the Green & Blue to go into the locker room with the lead and hit a step back buzzer-beating layup to give the Eagles a 43-41 advantage.
FGCU meant business in the second half and gained a 71-60 gap with 8:40 to go that featured eight points for Johnson and six from Kellman. Despite the Eagles offensive push the Ospreys kept afloat.
UNF battled back to within one with 6:03 left on the clock but the Eagles fought back eventually securing the 86-82 victory.
