HOUSTON, Tx. - The Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving team opened competition at the Phill Hansel Invitational on Wednesday, highlighted by the team's victory in the 200 free relay. At the conclusion of day one, the Eagles sit in fourth, and position themselves well heading into Thursday.

- The group of Leah Gentry-Tuney, Libby Russum, Izzy Ackley, and Mia Burke secured first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:30.10. Their time is the fifth best in school history.
- In the B-Final of the 500 free, Aislyn Barnett placed first (ninth overall) with a time of 4:50.63. Her time is the sixth best in school history.
- In the 200 IM, Cassie Bauer took first in the B-Final (ninth overall) with a time of 2:01.01. In the C-Final, Nori Hetyei took first (17th overall) with a time of 2:01.57. She moves into eighth place in the school's record book with that time.
- With a time of 22.61, Russum captured third in the 50 free. In the B-Final, Ackley placed eighth (16th overall) with a time of 23.38. In the C-Final, Gentry-Tuney took third (19th overall) and Burke took fourth (20th overall).
- In the 400 medley relay, the group of Ackley, Bauer, Olivia Vecchio, and Gentry-Tuney finished fifth with a time of 3:38.76.
- In the 1m dive, Alexandra Andueza placed fourth. Her score of 266.90 during prelims reached the benchmark for a zone qualifying score.

The Eagles are right back at it tomorrow, Nov. 20, for day two of the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston, Texas. Prelims will begin at 11 a.m., with finals beginning at 6 p.m.
