FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University's men's golf team will host the West Bay Collegiate Invitational, starting Monday at the West Bay Club in Estero, Florida.
The West Bay Collegiate Invitational in 2024 was the first time since 2022 that FGCU had hosted a tournament, however, the tournament was ultimately canceled due to weather.
A total of 12 premier colleague golf programs will be competing at the Invitational: Florida Gulf Coast, UCF, Jacksonville, Stetson, Elon, George Mason, Middle Tennessee State, Coastal Carolina, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, FAU (individuals only), and USF (individuals only). Rounds one and two are scheduled for Monday, with the final round to follow on Tuesday. Play starts on Monday at 8:30 a.m. with rounds one and two, and the tournament will pick back up Tuesday morning. West Bay Club presents a par-72, 6,960-yard course revealing the natural beauty of the Southwest Florida landscape. Live results of the invitational will be available through Scoreboard.
Eagles are coming off the Jim DeLapa where Sophomore Sacha Ruiz paced FGCU with a ninth-place finish, carding a three-round total of 207 that included a final-round 66 after improving each day. Teammates Nolan Harper, Brett Moore, and Sebastian Gamboa rounded out the scoring as the Eagles recorded 43 birdies to tie for sixth in the field, led by Ruiz's 12, while also shining on par-fives at eight-under for the weekend.
The Eagles will be back on the road October 19-20 competing at the Quail Valley Intercollegiate in Vero Beach, Fla.
