FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University's women's tennis team fell to No. 54 Virginia Commonwealth University Friday at the FGCU Tennis Complex.

"VCU is a very solid team and they competed hard against the ladies today. Our ladies will grow a lot from this opportunity they had to compete," said FGCU head women's tennis coach Courtney Vernon. "We are looking forward to another conference match on Monday against Lipscomb.

The Green & Blue (7-6) lost the doubles point to begin the day and the Rams (11-2) didn't look back. Ida Ferding dropped her match on court No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-3 score before Jordana Ossa fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.

Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando clinched the match for VCU defeating Isabella Colmenares 6-4, 6-1 on court No. 2. This ends Colmenares's nine-game winning streak that began back on Jan. 27 at Florida Atlantic.
