FGCU Athletics flies to record graduation rates

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University's student-athletes perform at elite levels in the classroom and in competition. For the first time in FGCU's history, student-athletes placed first in the state among Division I programs in Florida and in the Atlantic Sun Conference by achieving a 94% graduation success rate (GSR) and a 69% federal graduation rate (FGR). This data reflects students who entered college in 2017.

"This achievement not only highlights the dedication and hard work of our student-athletes but also reflects the strong support and commitment from our coaches, HARC academic staff, and the entire FGCU community," Dr. Ashley Kuhn, Director, Athletics Academic Advising - Hartley Academic Resource Center said. "To be the top in Florida and the ASUN Conference is a testament to our culture of excellence, where success in the classroom is just as important as success on the field. Earning a degree is a lifelong asset, and we are proud to see our student-athletes join the ranks of FGCU alumni, prepared for success in whatever they choose to pursue."

The 94% GSR is the highest in FGCU Athletics history, along with the best in Florida, tied with the University of Central Florida and the University of North Florida. The mark is also tied with UNF in the ASUN.

FGCU's FGR is also the best in the Sunshine State, just 4% behind Lipscomb in the ASUN.

Six teams had perfect metrics in Men's Tennis (GSR & FGR), Women's Golf (GSR), Women's Soccer (GSR), Women's Tennis (GSR), Women's Cross Country (FGR), Women's Volleyball (GSR).

Five more teams achieved a GSR of 90 or greater in Women's Swimming and Diving (96), Softball (93), Men's Soccer (93), Men's Basketball (93), and Baseball (90).

On top of their academic success, FGCU athletes took home seven ASUN championships in the 2023-2024 athletic year.
