FORT MYERS, Fla. - As the ever important midseason invite looms, Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving will travel to Houston to compete at the Phill Hansel Invitational from Wednesday to Friday. Joining FGCU at the meet are Houston, Rice, New Mexico State, New Mexico, Nevada, Air Force and San Jose State.

The meet is a key event in the swimming and diving calendar. The midseason invite brings together some of the best competition from around the country to compete against each other. For swimmers, it is one of the fastest meets of the season.

Swimmers will have one of their best opportunities to get an NCAA cut time at the Phill Hansel Invitational. Swimmers to keep an eye on in for NCAA cut times are Izzy Ackley (100 and 200 back), Cassie Bauer (100 and 200 breast), Jordan Durocher (200 back), Jasmin Kroll (200 free) and Libby Russum (100 fly and 100 free). An "A cut" will automatically qualify a swimmer for the NCAA Championships while a "B cut" puts the swimmer into consideration to be invited. An IV24 cut is an unofficial cut time that shows what time would have been invited for last year's NCAAs. Each year, this time will drop slightly for most events.

In the diving well, divers will continue to push for a zone qualifying score. Bailey Betzer missed out on a zone qualifying score on the 1-meter by 1.95 points. The zone qualifying score is 265 on 1-meter and 280 on 3-meter.
