Women's golf signs Summer Pilot

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University women's golf and head coach Shannon Skyora signed Summer Pilot to the 2023-24 signing class.

Pilot is the third Eagle to put pen to paper during the National Signing Day period, joining Islay Benoit from Pensacola, Florida, and Sydney Deals from Perrysburg, Ohio. Pilot is a native of Boca Raton, Florida, and competes for Boca Raton Community High School.

"We look forward to having Summer join us in the fall," coach Skyora said. "She has a lot of talent and is a great student."

Pilot is the varsity team captain for her FHSAA 3A squad and placed ninth at the 2023 state championship, shooting a 75 and a 72. In 2021, she tied for first place at the 3A District Tournament. The senior currently holds a nine-hole scoring average of 37.

In 10 tournaments on the SFPGA Prep Tour, Pilot has drilled a hole-in-one, three tournament victories, and finished in the top three eight times. Pilot emerged as the SFPGA Jr. Tour Player of the Year in 2020.

Pilot placed first in putting and chipping as a contestant on the Drive, Chip and Putt.

In the classroom, Pilot has earned the Cambridge Scholar with Merit (2021) and the AP Scholar with Honor (2022) awards. She has also earned the AICE Cambridge Diploma with distinction and boasts a 3.85 GPA.
