Volleyball makes addition to roster

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University head volleyball coach Matt Botsford is pleased to announce the addition of Barbara Koehler to the FGCU roster.

Barbara Koehler | 6'0" | Outside Hitter | Mato Grasso, Brazil | Colegio National (Wichita State/FSW)

Koehler comes to FGCU for her senior season after one season at Wichita State University and two seasons at Florida SouthWestern State College. While at FSW, Koehler was named the NJCAA DI Volleyball Player of the Year and AVCA Two-Year College Player of the Year after leading FSW to the first national championship in program history. With the Shockers, Koehler played in 27 matches with 13 starts, helping the team to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) in the 2023 postseason.

"I am so excited that we were able to get a player of Ba's caliber here at semester. She is going to be a tremendous addition to our team and with her experience and talent, Ba will make us better the moment she arrives," said Coach Botsford. "She is a fierce competitor who knows how to elevate her game in big moments, and she has had plenty of those opportunities playing for two great programs in Wichita State and FSW. Ba is a true six-rotation pin whose energy is obvious, infectious, and impactful on the court. I absolutely love her passion for the game and her hard work on every play. We can't wait to see her wearing the Green and Blue."

Koehler will join the team for the Spring 2024 practice season as a new student at FGCU.
