FORT MYERS, Fla. -- In a testament to the support from FGCU Athletics' alumni, donors, friends and sponsors, the department's premier fundraising event produced a record $766,000 in net revenue. Proceeds directly support Eagles' scholarship needs.
The 12th annual Night at the Nest gala Dec. 1 sold out for the seventh consecutive year. Total revenue set a new record, surpassing the $716,000 raised at the event in 2021. Since 2010, Night at the Nest has generated $6.6 million cumulatively.
"This was our finest Night at the Nest and we are so thankful for the incredible support of FGCU Athletics by the Southwest Florida community," Deputy AD, Competitive Success & Chief Revenue Officer Graham Diemer said. "The impact made by our corporate sponsors, attendees, auction item donors, bidders, etc. is nothing short of amazing. The success of gala continues to have a massive, positive effect on the opportunities and experiences we are able to provide our student-athletes."
"This event would not be possible without the collective effort of our student-athletes during the event to serve attendees and share their stories about how the generosity of our attendees impacts their experience at FGCU," said Deputy AD, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Woman Administrator Lauren Leister."
Approximately 250 live and silent auction items accounted for nearly $545,000, bolstered by online bidding by fans not in attendance. In addition to the auction items, the event generated $154,000 in donations, $86,000 in admission revenue and $146,000 in sponsorship revenue.
The Eagles Club Board of Advisors, the official booster organization of FGCU Athletics, plays an integral role in organizing, promoting and contributing to the success of the gala. Its chairman, Dr. Bob Ryan of Bonita Bay, also served as Night at the Nest chairman.
"This is always a very special event to bring new supporters to campus, some for the very first time. The results continue to prove how truly generous our local community is," said Ryan. "It is fantastic to witness those friends and family members from Southwest Florida, who have adopted FGCU as their own, making such impactful contributions."
WINK News co-anchor Lois Thome — one of Southwest Florida's most well-known media personalities — once again emceed the event. Local celebrity Jay Severson served as auctioneer.
Night at the Nest 2024 is scheduled for Dec. 6.
