FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team travels west to face No. 7 Texas, Rice and Houston Christian this weekend in the Lone Star State.
FGCU faces the reigning national champions at 6 p.m. Friday. The upset-minded Eagles are on the hunt for their 10th Power Five win and just their second-ever ranked win in program history. FGCU notched its ninth P5 win this season with a 3-2 win over Ole Miss. The FGCU-Texas battle will air on the Longhorn Network.
The Eagles will then head to Houston to take on Rice and Houston Christian at the Rice Invitational. Rice received 96 votes in the latest AVCA Top 25 poll, good enough for No. 26. FGCU faces Rice at 5 p.m. Saturday and Houston Christian at 2 p.m. Sunday.
In a Saturday battle of the birds, the Eagles-Owls matchup will be streamed on ESPN+. FGCU will be facing Texas and Rice for the first time in program history. The Eagles are 2-0 all-time against Houston Christian, dating back to 2010.
