FORT MYERS, Fla. — After four early-season tournaments, Florida Gulf Coast University's volleyball team will open up Atlantic Sun Conference play this weekend at Alico Arena as the Eagles take on Jacksonville University Friday at 7 p.m., before facing the University of North Florida at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The Eagles (7-5) had a strong stay at Alico Arena last weekend in the Hilton Garden Inn FGCU Classic. FGCU swept Florida Atlantic and Le Moyne Friday before falling to Power Five foe Maryland in Saturday's thrilling five-set finale.
FGCU has won 14 consecutive contests against JU, with sweeps in the last six meetings. The Dolphins have lost six matches in a row in 2023 and enter ASUN play with a 3-9 overall record.
Both FGCU and UNF defended their home courts over the other in 2022, with the Eagles sweeping the rubber match in the quarterfinals of the ASUN Championships. The Ospreys are 6-7 overall after a mid-week loss at Florida State.
