FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University women's soccer player Erika Zschuppe and men's soccer player Lucas Windschauer have been named FGCU Suncoast Credit Union Scholar-Athletes of the Month for the month of November.

In the classroom, Zschuppe has a grade-point average of 3.74 in Integrated Studies. On the field, she pulled off a hat trick in the come-from-behind win over the University of North Alabama in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship match. Her performance propelled her to ASUN Tournament MVP status. The two-time United Soccer Coaches South Region honoree started in all 22 matches and produced a team-leading 10 goals, three of which were game-winners and one landed on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays of the day. Her 10 goals ranked second across the conference. Zschuppe emerged as one of only two in the ASUN to score double-digit goals. The First Team All-ASUN section also added a team-leading eight assists, and her 28 points throughout the campaign paced the ASUN.

"Really proud of Erika for receiving this award," said FGCU Head Women's Soccer Coach James Blankenship. "The work that she put into the classroom obviously is important, so to be recognized for that is a wonderful feeling."

For Windschauer, the junior has a 3.15 GPA in Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Studies. On the field, Windschauer played in 14 games, starting all of them, and was FGCU's leader in minutes played with 1,173. He stayed on the field all 90 minutes in 13 games, serving as a leader in the Eagles' defensive post. He aided in the Eagles' 4-0 shutout victory against Stetson University Sept. 23. He also never left the field against North Florida as FGCU won 2-1. The Tampa native had two shots this season with one against No. 13 North Carolina.

 "Lucas is a competitor and leader and is fully deserving of all recognition he gets," said FGCU Head Men's Soccer Coach Jesse Cormier. "His work ethic is second to none and gets better with each passing day. I believe he will be a big reason this program reemerges on the national stage in the coming years."

This is the third year that Suncoast Credit Union has been the title sponsor of the FGCU Athletics Scholar-Athletes of the Month. The award itself dates back to the 2011-12 season.
