FORT MYERS, Fla. - With the top seed in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship in hand, history could still beckon for the Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team this weekend as the squad closes the regular season with a road trip to take on the University of North Florida Friday night and Jacksonville University Saturday afternoon.
Either one more win or one more loss by Lipscomb Univeristy would give the Eagles (22-5, 14-0 ASUN) the outright ASUN regular season championship. A win in Friday night's match against UNF would set a new program record for consecutive wins to start the conference season. Two wins would give the Eagles an undefeated regular season in ASUN play for the first time and would also set a new program mark for most wins in an ASUN regular season, breaking the record of 15. Twice, the Eagles have won 15 matches in ASUN regular season play, with the most recent occasion coming in 2021.
No matter the results, the Eagles will host the ASUN Championship Nov. 18-20 in Alico Arena.
