Florida Gulf Coast University swimming and diving finished second Saturday at the Magnus Cup in Cleveland, Ohio.
"We had a great final day," head coach Dave Rollins said. "We saw two school records get broken, one freshman and total team, with Jasmin and Libby. We ended the weekend with 12 new Top 10 times, and we posted relay times faster than the conference last year in three out of the five relays. The ladies were incredibly supportive and competed very tough. It was great to see and it makes us as a staff very happy."
Five different Eagles posted a top 10 time during the final day of the event, including setting a new program record in the 50 fly. Libby Russum recorded the fastest-ever 50 fly mark in school history at 24.18, earning a silver medal in the event.
Freshman Jasmin Kroll set the second fastest 100 IM time (56.84) and then improved to eighth all-time in the 100 free (49.53) with a gold medal effort.
Cameron Kuriger, Mia Burke and Lily Magda joined in on the Top 10 party. Kuriger recorded the seventh fastest 50 fly mark (24.62), Burke produced the seventh quickest 100 IM time (58.12) and Magda emerged ninth all-time with her first 1000 mark in the 1650 free event.
Emma Bjoernholdt kept the medal trend flowing by securing a bronze medal in the 1650 with a final mark of 17.02.02.
FGCU earned 1,052 points throughout its three impressive days in the pool. Akron would win the Magnus Cup team title with its 1,571 points.
In diving, Isabeau Keene emerged as a finalist in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
The Eagles capped the meet with a third-place performance in the 400-yard free relay courtesy of Kroll, Burke, Russum and Nadia Helm.
FGCU returns to the pool December 17 for the CSCAA Open Water Nationals, hosted by Florida International University in Miami, Fla.
