A balanced attack helped Florida Gulf Coast University earn a 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-23) sweep over the University of North Alabama in Atlantic Sun Conference volleyball action Saturday night in Florence, Ala.
The win marked the 13th consecutive victory for FGCU (20-5, 12-0 ASUN). With Lipscomb University's 3-2 loss at Eastern Kentucky University Saturday night, the Eagles now have a two-match lead in the conference standings with four matches to play in the regular season.
Shelby Kent had her third double-double of the season with a match-high 11 kills to go with 10 digs.
Skylar English had nine kills, with
Alexandra Zakutney notching seven. Eight different players had kills for the Eagles, including a kill by
Claire Ertel that set up match point for FGCU.
Lily Tessier had 35 assists in guiding the FGCU offense.
North Alabama (14-10, 5-6 ASUN) was led by Katy Floyd's seven kills.
The Eagles will return home for the final two regular season matches of the season at Alico Arena. Friday night's match with Kennesaw State University starts at 7 p.m., with Senior Night against Queens College of Charlotte following next Saturday at 6 p.m.
