Eagles look to clinch ASUN bid Tuesday

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University can clinch a bid to the Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball Championship if it defeats Stetson University tonight in DeLand, Fla.

The Eagles (17-5, 10-0) have won 11 matches in a row dating back to the start of ASUN play. In the time since the winning streak started Sept. 23, the Eagles have won five weekly awards from the conference. Ella Chapman has won ASUN Freshman of the Week honors twice, Reese Burry has been named an ASUN Defensive Player of the Week and ASUN Freshman of the Week in different weeks, and Juliana Lentz has been named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week.

Other milestones have been reached along the way. Alexandra Zakutney reached 1,500 career kills and 1,000 career digs on consecutive weekends. Burry cleared the 300-dig plateau last weekend. Lentz also cleared 750 career points in the win at EKU.

As a team, the Eagles have 13.38 kills per set and 14.40 digs per set. The team is blocking at a remarkable clip of 2.75 per set average in the league.

Following Tuesday's match, the Eagles will be back in action Saturday at North Alabama in Florence, Ala.
