FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University will wrap up a five-match volleyball homestand Tuesday night as the Eagles welcome Florida International University to Alico Arena. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
The Eagles (15-5) have won eight matches in a row, all of which have come in Atlantic Sun Conference play. Last Saturday night, the Eagles surged to a 15-5 win in the fifth set to knock off Lipscomb University, 3-2. The win propelled FGCU into first place by itself in the ASUN standings.
Alexandra Zakutney had 21 kills in the win, with
Juliana Lentz and
Skylar English each recording eight total blocks.
The Panthers (9-12) have been idle since an Oct. 7-8 trip to play UTEP in El Paso, Texas. FIU was swept in both ends of that Conference USA doubleheader. FIU has lost three in a row dating back to a 3-2 loss at home to Middle Tennessee State University. Earlier this season, the Panthers defeated FGCU's ASUN foes Jacksonville, 3-0, and Stetson, 3-1.
