Baseball Duo Named ABCA All-Southeast Region

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A pair of FGCU baseball players were named to the ABCA Southeast All-Region Team, Wednesday as Alejandro Figueredo (Sucre, Venezuela/West Oaks HS/Seminole State) and Ian Farrow (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS) were each named to the Second Team.

"I'm happy for both Alejandro and Ian," said head coach Dave Tollett. "They each had great seasons for us and helped us to one of our best offensive seasons we've ever had here at FGCU. The two of them are great ballplayers and this honor shows that."

Figueredo started all 58 games for the Eagles this season and hit .392 with 13 home runs, 21 doubles, 62 RBI, and 49 runs scored en route to being named All-ASUN First Team . He is also currently ninth in the NCAA with 91 hits while his batting average is top-20. Figueredo's .659 slugging percentage also led the Eagles by over 30 points.

He also earned All-America status last week after being recognized by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. Figueredo became just the sixth Eagle in FGCU's Division I era to earn All-American status, joining Chris Sale (2010), Mike Murray (2014), Jake Noll (2014, 2016), Nick Rivera (2015, 2017), and Richie Garcia (2017). Jason Cooper and Jason Louwsma were also named All-Americans in 2005 when the Eagles were Division II.

Farrow earns a spot in the outfield on the second team after starting all 58 games in left field for the Green & Blue. He was one of just a handful of players across the nation to have both 70 runs scored and 70 RBI. He set new FGCU single-season records with 21 home runs and 75 RBI while also hitting .322. He also contributed with his speed as he stole five bases and with his arm, collecting five outfield assists to lead the team.

Figueredo and Farrow become just the seventh and eighth players in FGCU's Division I era to be named All-Region and the first since Nick Rivera in 2017. It is also the first time since 2010 when Chris Sale and Mikel Alvarez were named All-Region that Eagles have had multiple players honored.
