FORT MYERS, Fla. – For the seventh time in program history, the FGCU men's basketball team is heading to the postseason as the Eagles have accepted a spot in The Basketball Classic presented by Eracism and will host Detroit Mercy on Wednesday night. Tipoff from Alico Arena is set for 7 PM and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.

The entire tournament field and full match-ups will be announced at a later date, but The Basketball Classic will feature 32 competing with first round games on campus sites.
For the Eagles, this marks the first postseason opportunity since the 2018 NIT. The Green and Blue played in the NCAA Tournament in 2013, 2016, and 2017; reached the NIT in 2014, and the CIT in 2015. FGCU became a nationally known program during the historic 2013 season where the Eagles became the first 15 seed to ever reach the Sweet 16.
This season, FGCU enters the postseason with a 21-11 overall record. The Eagles won eight of the final 10 games on the year.
Tavian Dunn-Martin, who set the FGCU single-season scoring record, leads the program with 21.1 points per game, while
Kevin Samuel averaged nearly a double-double with 11.7 points and 9.8 rebounds. Samuel's 94 career blocked shots were also a single-season program record.
Detroit Mercy finished the season 14-15 and 10-7 in the Horizon League. Antoine Davis is third in the nation in scoring at 23.9 points per game giving this a match-up of two prolific NCAA Scorers. It will also be a homecoming for Titans' assistant coach Donnie Marsh who served as associate head coach at FGCU for the three prior seasons.
