The Summer of 2021 was highlighted by a pair of Eagles representing their home countries in the rescheduled 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. All-American swimmer Petra Halmai competed for her native Hungary, while FGCU alum Julia Roddar played for the Swedish women's soccer team. Halmai competed in the mixed 4x100 medley relay, helping her Hungarian squad set a new national record in the event. Roddar became the first Eagle to earn an Olympic medal, as she helped Sweden to an upset over the USA en route to earning Silver, after falling in a heartbreaker to Canada in penalty kicks in the Gold medal match. The duo respectively became the eighth and ninth Olympians for FGCU, representing the still young Eagles in an impressive fourth Olympic games overall.
 
Following the Olympics, Roddar continued her impressive year, as she helped the Washington Spirit to the National Women's Soccer League Championship. Roddar and the Spirit defeated the Chicago Red Stars, 2-1, in November to capture their first title. For the year, Roddar played in 17 matches as a defender and picked up a goal and an assist in her first NWSL season.
 
Halmai returned to FGCU to compete after being named an Honorable Mention All-American in the spring, when she reached the NCAA Championships 200 breast finals to become the first Eagle to do so since 2016. She also repeated as the CCSA Swimmer of the Year after leading the Green & Blue to a share of their tenth championship in 13 years.
