ESTERO, Fla. – After a successful weekend at the Tiger Beach Challenge, the FGCU beach volleyball team (6-1) returns home to host Webber International (4-4). The Eagles have already downed the Webber Warriors once at the beginning of the season by a score of 3-2 and will be looking to double-down on Wednesday at the Estero Community Park. The first serves are slated for 4 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
FGCU rattled off victories in three-straight matches before finally falling to No. 10 South Carolina at LSU's Tiger Beach Challenge last weekend. The Eagles swept UAB 5-0 to start out the tournament and followed up with back-to-back 3-2 wins over Houston Baptist and Spring Hill (Ala.). They were shut out by the Gamecocks in their final match of the tournament.
Pairs 1, 4, and 5 finished the weekend with three wins and a loss, while No. 2 and No. 3 posted wins over UAB, but fell in the next three matches.
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
With eight matches already under its belt, in-state NAIA foe Webber International has posted two victories over Warner (Fla.) as well as wins over Stevenson and Lincoln Memorial.
The Eagles hold a 3-0 record all-time over Webber.

The Green and Blue will take a five-day break before traveling east to square off with FAU in Boca Raton, Fla. on Monday, Mar. 27. First serves are scheduled for 4 p.m.

COACH BOTSFORD
Head coach
Matt Botsford begins his fourth season at the helm of FGCU beach volleyball in 2017. Last season, Botsfords squad produced a program-high 11 wins. In three seasons, his beach teams have combined for an overall record of 20-37 (.351). In 2016, Botsford's indoor squad produced one of its most successful seasons ever at 27-6, with the win total representing the most in Division I program history and falling two shy of the all-time mark. His teams have combined for an overall 65-27 (.707) record, including a 32-10 (.762) mark in ASUN play. In his inaugural season, the Eagles finished with a record of 19-11 with a second-place ASUN finish. Botsford has coached 15 All-Conference selections in his three seasons. Prior to his time in Southwest Florida, Botsford held successful stints as an assistant at Notre Dame, Miami, IUPUI, Indianapolis and most recently Colorado State. A former professional volleyball player, he is a 1998 graduate of Tri-State University (now Trine), where he earned a degree in Social Studies Education. He earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis.
