BABSON PARK, Fla. – In its final team competition before the 2015 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship, the FGCU sand volleyball team will travel to Webber International University for a midweek matchup with the Warriors. The match is set for 4 p.m.

FGCU enters the match with a record of 2-9 after defeating Webber and Eckerd in home matches last week. The team earned its first victory of the season with a 4-1 win over the Warriors and followed with a sweep of Eckerd the next day.

Olivia Mesner (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River High School) and
Madi Wilcox (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein High School) stand as the team's most successful pair. After playing at the No. 4 and No. 3 positions last week, Mesner and Wilcox hold a 9-2 record on the season.

Whitney Masters (Muncie, Ind./Wapahani High School) joined rookie Mackenzie Allen (Naples, Fla./Gulf Coast High School) in the no. 1 position last week and earned a 2-0 win over Eckerd.

WEBBERWebber International enters Tuesday's matchup with a 1-10 record on the season. Under first-year head coach Julie Dougherty, the team defeated Eckerd 4-1 in a split double header last weekend but fell to FGCU 4-1 last Tuesday.

The Warriors competed at FIU's Surf and Turf Invitational over the weekend but were unable to capture a win. The squad took losses to FIU, FAU, Stanford and Carson Newman in the three-day event.

In last week's 4-1 loss to the Eagles, Webber's lone win came at the No. 1 position where Alida Schat and Briwna Mueller took a three-set win over Masters and Allen.

The team will use the final contest as preparation for the 2015 A-Sun Conference Championship, which will be held at the Estero Community Park Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18.

Head coach Matt concluded his first year at the helm of the FGCU volleyball program with a record of 19-11 with a second-place finish in Atlantic Sun Conference play. Botsford's team also had five players recognized as All-Conference winner to set a new program high. Prior to his time in Southwest Florida, Botsford held successful stints as an assistant at Notre Dame, Miami, IUIPI, Indianapolis and most recently Colorado State. Botsford is a former professional volleyball player and is a 1998 graduate of Tri-State University, where he earned a degree in Social Studies Education. He earned a master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis.
