ETSU Runs Away From FGCU in Men's Hoops

FORT MYERS, Fla., - Though three Eagles scored in double figures, it wasn't enough as the FGCU men's basketball team fell to Atlantic Sun pre-season favorite East Tennessee State 95-71 Friday at Alico Arena. With the lose the Eagles fall to 8-16 and 4-6 in the A-Sun while the Bucs moved to 13-9 (8-2 A-Sun).

ETSU guard Courtney Pigram led all scorers with 28 on 12-19 shooting, while four other Bucs scored in double figures, including Kevin Tiggs' 19. ETSU shot 56.3% from the field and 42.3% from behind the arc.

Junior guard Delvin Franklin (Houston, Texas) led the way for the Eagles scoring 16 points on 7-12 shooting. Senior forward Casey Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.) added 11 points, while junior forward Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) tallied 14 points and five rebounds off the bench. Senior Roman Narmbaye (Chad, Africa) recorded eight points on 4-6 shooting and nine boards.

The Eagles kept within striking distance until midway through the first half before the Bucs went on a 7-0 run to build a 10 point lead. Later in the half ESTU would go on a 19-5 run to build a 23 point lead, and would go into the locker room up 54-32.

The ESTU lead would go as high as 26 in the closing period, but the Eagles would keep battling to cut the lead to 13 with a Narmbaye layup. But that would be as close as they would get as Pigram and the Bucs had an answer for ever Eagle rally, running away with a 95-71 win.

The Eagles are back home this Sunday when they battle A-Sun foe USC-Upstate at 2:00 PM.
