Candy Myers (New Batavia, OH) and
Ebonie Halliburton (East St. Louis, IL) scored 14 points apiece to lead the Florida Gulf Coast University women'â„¢s basketball team to a 63-51 win over Valdosta State Saturday night at The Complex in Valdosta.
The Eagles jumped out to a 38-22 lead at the half on the strength of 6-of-8 from three-point range. For the game, FGCU knocked down eight three-pointers and also connected on 13-of-17 free throws. Myers hit 3-of-7 three-pointers in the game while Halliburton went 3-of-6 to lead the Eagles, now 5-3. Valdosta State drops to 5-2. The two teams will square off again in Fort Myers on December 22.
Junior
Jennifer Santana (Pembroke Pines, FL) added eight points for FGCU. Candice Ferrell led VSU with 12 points.
The Eagles return to Alico Arena on Thursday night to host Fayetteville State at 7:00 p.m.
