'" Freshman hitter Heather Van Olst posted her ninth double-double of the season to lead Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep (30-25, 30-23, and 30-20) of Palm Beach Atlantic before 423 fans at Alico Arena on Wednesday night. Van Olst (Loxahatchee) recorded 11 kills and a team-high 17 digs as the Eagles picked up their seventh consecutive victory to improve to 21-4 on the season. Senior middle blocker Kristy Hartley (Naples) had a team-high 14 kills and four blocks for FGCU. Junior middle blocker Devon Watts (Somerville, TX) added 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks. The Sailfish jumped out to a 19-11 lead in game one behind six kills from senior hitter Jackie Stanley before the Eagles rallied behind the attack of junior hitter Lori Brooks (Naples)and Van Olst to pull out the 30-25 victory. FGCU shut down the PBA attack in games two and three, holding the Sailfish to a .114 attack percentage for the match. Stanley finished with 14 kills for the Sailfish. Palm Beach Atlantic, a provisional NCAA Division II member, drops to 26-2.
