ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. --- The FGCU women's basketball team remained undefeated (5-0) last night as they defeated Flagler College in St. Augustine, 68-55.

The Eagles jumped out to a 9-3 lead as
Jennifer Santana and
Noreen McCallum gave Coach
Karl Smesko an early spark with Santana hitting two jumpers and McCallum adding one.

Flagler would take the lead at the 11:16 mark (14-13) on a three pointer from Laura Jobe, but
Trish Fleming countered with two free throws to take the lead back.
Â
The Eagles would not look back as they increased their lead to 31-22 on a McCallum three pointer.
Rebecca Stewart would drill a three pointer with 1:25 left in the first half to give the Eagles a 10-point lead going into the locker room at halftime.

Fleming would take control of the second half early as she scored six points in the first four minutes of play to give the Eagles a nine point advantage at the 15:19 mark.

Junior
Jasmin Lee gave Coach Smesko an added boost off the bench as she hit a jumper and converted a free throw to give the Eagles their largest lead of the night 45-33.

A layup by
Megan Jones at the 3:52 mark sealed the win for the Eagles, as they would take a 60-44 lead. Free throws were key down the stretch, and the Eagles responded sinking 6-6 in the last three minutes of play.

Fleming was fantastic again, as she recorded a double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds, three steals). Santana had another solid performance as she nearly recorded a double-double of her own with 12 points and nine rebounds to go along with her game high four assists.

McCallum and Stewart added 11 and eight points, respectively, to help keep the Eagles undefeated.

Flagler was led by Raegan Brummal who scored a game high 21 points and 10 rebounds.

FGCU will be back in action this Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Clearwater Christian College.
