Javier Fernandez led the FGCU men’s tennis team this week against NJIT and USC Upstate. Fernandez clinched his second-straight match in the Atlantic Sun Conference by a 7-5, 6-1 score against Lukas Zvikas on Thursday over NJIT. On Saturday, match officials suspended play to Sunday due to rain with the Eagles leading 1-0 and dominating singles play. On Sunday, the freshman won his fifth-consecutive match against Ignacio Garrido 6-3, 6-4 and put the Eagles on the brink of the match victory.
Fernandez is leading FGCU with a 4-0 record in the A-Sun, helping the Green and Blue  to 16 straight wins in conference play and 13th consecutive wins at home.
