Kathy Peterson

Kathy Peterson, who serves as the department's senior associate athletics director for student-athlete services and senior woman administrator, is in her 24th full year at FGCU in 2021-22, including her 18th in athletics.

Peterson is the sport supervisor for volleyball, beach volleyball, softball, and men's and women's cross country. Peterson also oversees the Eagles Council (Student-Athlete Advisory Council), the E.A.G.L.E. Leadership Institute, and the NCAA Student-Athlete Development program.

Additionally, Peterson oversees all necessary self-studies and strategic plans for the NCAA and ASUN and prepares bids for the NCAA and post-season conference events. She coordinates the athletics internship program as well as the degree completion award program. She serves as the liaison to the conference office, department of housing and residence life and the human resources office.

In her previous position, Peterson handled all NCAA compliance duties and served as the liaison between student services and enrollment services.

Peterson began her career at FGCU in February 1997 in the office of the registrar as the coordinator of transfer articulation. In August 1999, she became the associate director of undergraduate admissions where she served as the athletics liaison for the admissions office, supervised the processing and transfer articulation staff, handled the appeals committee process and was responsible for all transfer student services. She served as the interim director of undergraduate admissions prior to becoming the first compliance director at FGCU.

A native of Kentucky, Peterson came to FGCU from Albany, Georgia where she was the director of career services at Albany Technical College for four years.

Peterson received her bachelor's degree in marketing from the University of Central Florida and her master's of business administration from Florida State University.

Kathy resides in Punta Gorda with her husband, Tom. Their daughter, Paige, is a freshman at Florida State University.
