Previously, he was the department's Director of Advancement from 2018-2022 after spending his first two years as the Assistant Director of Advancement and Eagles Club Coordinator.

In his role, Ring is responsible for fundraising for and running the Eagles Club. In addition to the Eagles Club, Ring is responsible for soliciting major gifts, scholarships and capital projects, including the EAGLE Campaign, which launched in December of 2019. The grand opening of the Sublett Family Strength & Conditioning center in the summer of 2020 was a truly important event. The state-of-the-art facility is critical for recruiting, player development and retaining the talented coaches we have in place. Ring assisted in the fundraising for capital project that will help chaperone in the next era for FGCU Athletics. The center is a dedicated workout space for all 15 programs and 260-plus student-athletes.

With Ring on staff, Eagles Club revenue was at an all-time high in 2018-19 with $1,076,000 raised.

The former Midwest student-athlete with South Florida ties came to the Green and Blue from the Miami Dolphins, where he spent the 2015-16 year working in their membership development and services offices.

After seven months with the Dolphins, Ring was promoted to Membership Services Representative position, putting him in charge of 750 season ticket holder accounts and their respective needs.

Prior to that, Ring was a sales representative for one season with the Louisville Bats, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. While pursuing his degree from Louisville concurrently, he gained experience in selling ticket packages focused on maintaining existing accounts and generating new accounts, while also aiding in the team’s marketing efforts. He also assisted the club’s youth fan organization.

A native of Muncie, Ind., Ring was a pitcher for the University of Cincinnati from 2010-14. While there, he experienced first-hand the important behind-the-scenes work that the administration did in support student-athletes. He also served on Cincinnati's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for three years and spent time as an assistant to the Director of Student-Athlete Development.

Ring earned a bachelor's degree in sport administration with a minor in business administration from Cincinnati in 2014. Following that, he received a master’s in sport administration from Louisville in 2015.

Matt resides in Fort Myers with his wife Emmi and their three children.
