Hope Thomas joined the Hartley Academic Resource Center after being hired as an Athletic Academic Coordinator in August 2021. In her current position, she oversees academics for men’s basketball, men’s & women’s cross country, softball, and women’s tennis. She also oversees the mentor and tutor programs.

She came to FGCU from St. Bonaventure University where she served as Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Support Services for three years. While working with the Bonnies, she oversaw academics for eight athletic teams (women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, softball, and men’s and women’s Tennis). She also oversaw the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Prior to her time at St. Bonaventure, Thomas interned at Ball State University for Student-Athlete Support Services as well as at Michigan State University as a Learning Assistant for Student-Athlete Support Services.

Thomas received her undergraduate degree in Sport Administration from Lock Haven University where she was a member of the women’s lacrosse team. She was a PSAC Scholar-Athlete, IWLCA Honor Roll selection, Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Award honoree, and Academic All-American. On the field, she helped Lock Haven to back-to-back PSAC Conference Championships as well as national runner-up finishes in 2014 and 2015.

Following her time at Lock Haven, she earned a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology, Psychosocial Aspects of Sport and Physical Activity from Michigan State University. Originally from Carmel, Indiana, Thomas lives in Fort Myers with her dog Nugget.
