John is the founder and head coach of Pelican Diving Team, an age group diving team based out of Naples and Fort Myers. His most recent success at Pelican Diving Team is diver Charlotte Norman who took 2nd and 5th place on 1meter and 3meter, respectively at this year’s USA Diving Jr. National Championship. Charlotte was a Senior National qualifier for Pelican Diving Team as well as FHSAA 2-time state Champion for the Community School of Naples, also coached by John. Charlotte will be diving for Princeton University this fall.
Before getting married in 2019, John was Head of Diving at Sport Ireland, in Dublin, Ireland. While in Dublin John ran a program of over 200-divers and lead a staff of 8-coaches.
John’s most recent NCAA stint was at the University of Delaware, from 2017-2019. John’s divers had several CAA diver of the week honors, 6 All Conference awards, and 1 CAA medalist.Â
Before following his now wife, Kara Lynch to the University of Delaware, John was the Program Director and Head Coach of Tomahawk Diving Team in Tallahassee, Florida. While in Tallahassee, John lead divers to both Junior and Senior national championships with 4 of his divers graduating to NCAA Division 1 institutions.
John’s first job in the NCAA was at Boise State University. The Boise diver’s garnered 18 All-Conference honors, 6 Zone qualifiers, and multiple diver of the week awards.
Prior to Boise, John started his full-time coaching Career in Houston, Texas having the privilege to coach with Jane Figueiredo and Charlie Casuto.Â
John dived all 4-years at the University of Wyoming graduating with a BS in Kinesiology and Health Promotion. John has an MS in Sports Coaching from University College Dublin. John is an NSCA certified strength coach(CSCS) and an ISAK Level 1 anthropometrist.
John and his wife Kara live in North Naples with their three children.
