Mickey Gingras, who is in his fifth year at FGCU as an assistant athletic trainer in 2020-21 and has 16 years of athletic training experience, currently oversees the women’s basketball, men's golf and women's golf teams.

While still an undergraduate at the University of New Mexico (UNM), Gingras had internships with ESPN X-Games and the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer (MLS). Following certification as an athletic trainer, he received an internship at UNM serving as the athletic trainer for the women’s soccer team.

Gingras served as an outreach athletic trainer in the Rochester, New York area from November 2004-11. While there, he was assigned to several area high schools providing medical care for individual schools’ athletes as well as regional championships. He also continued working with ESPN serving as part of the sports medicine team for winter and summer X-Games until 2008.

From February to August 2010, Gingras took a leave of absence from the outreach position to serve as head athletic trainer for Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) champion Western New York Flash. The following year, he began working at St. John Fisher College where he served as an assistant athletic trainer with a variety of NCAA Division-III teams. Beginning in April 2013, he served as head athletic trainer for the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse before moving on to Alfred State College where he served as head athletic trainer until accepting his current position at FGCU.

Gingras served in the Air Force for more than 24 years before returning to college. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from the University of New Mexico in 2003. He went on to receive his Master of Science in exercise science and health promotion from California University of Pennsylvania in 2010.

Gingras and his wife, Ticia, have four children - Michael, Jonathan, Andrew and Rebekah.

- Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Florida
- Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), National Academy of Sports Medicine
- Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), National Academy of Sports Medicine
- American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED
- American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers instructor
