Dr. Ashley Kuhn rejoined FGCU in April 2023 as Director of the Hartley Academic Resource Center and was promoted to Associate Athletic Director and Director of Student-Athlete Success in December 2024. She oversees athletic academic advising, academic support, and student-athlete development, and serves as a member of both the Athletics Executive Staff and the Academic Engagement Unit Leadership Team. Dr. Kuhn also serves as the sport supervisor for beach volleyball and men’s and women’s cross country.

Prior to returning to FGCU, Dr. Kuhn served as Director and Associate Director of Academic Advising at Florida SouthWestern College, where she led strategic planning and advising operations across multiple campuses and was recognized with the Outstanding Collaboration in Support of Student Success Award in September 2022. During her previous tenure at FGCU (2017–2021), she was Assistant Director of the Hartley Academic Resource Center and also served as an Academic Advisor II in the Whitaker College of Engineering. Her earlier experience at the University of Florida included roles as Coordinator of Academic Training Programs/Learning Specialist, assistant learning specialist, and advising intern, where she developed support programs for student-athletes, including those with learning disabilities, and contributed to ADHD and concussion protocols.

Dr. Kuhn holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminology, as well as a master’s and Ph.D. in Criminology and Law from the University of Florida. Her doctoral research, “Faculty Perceptions of Student-Athlete Deviance: A Big Ten and SEC Comparison,” received the N4A Academic Research Award in 2017.

Dr. Kuhn is active in the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) and Women Leaders in College Sports. She has served as chair of the N4A Research Committee and Division Director of Educational Services and Initiatives on the N4A Board of Directors. She is also a graduate of the N4A Professional Development Institute and the Women Leaders in College Sports Institute of Administrative Advancement.

Dr. Kuhn resides in Fort Myers with her husband and their four children.
