Mary Jane Hiestand enters her second season as an assistant coach for the FGCU men's golf team in 2015-16. One of the premier senior amatuer players in the Southeast, Hiestand brings a vast array of successful playing experience to the Eagles.
Hiestand was named the 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 Florida State Golf Association Senior Player of the Year, and in 2007 and 2010 was honored as the Florida Women’s State Golf Association Player of the Year. Additionally, Hiestand has been selected to the Senior Women’s Invitation Match North American Team each year from 2012 to present.
A native of Michigan, Hiestand won 13Â various state amateur championships throughout her career and was named the Player of the Decade for the 1990s in the state of Michigan. In 2004, she was inducted into the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame.
Hiestand attended the University of Michigan from 1977-79, and played on the women’s golf team during the 1977-78 season. She transferred to the University of Florida and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Advertising in 1982. Hiestand earned her Master of Science degree in Finance from Walsh College in 1994.
