FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast fell to Florida Atlantic with a final score of 8-1 on Tuesday night at Swanson Stadium.
The Eagles (26-17) managed six hits, with their lone run coming in the fourth inning. The Owls' (22-22) offense was powered by 12 hits, including five doubles, in the game.

Jaret Nelson contributed with two hits, including a double, and successfully stole a base.
Cayden Hessemyer added to the offense by recording a hit and drawing a walk, also stealing a base. Sebastian Lippman impressed on the mound with a scoreless inning, striking out two and allowing no hits.
Evan Dempsey made an impact by scoring one run and collecting one hit.
On the mound,
Jordan Vera (0-1) was charged with the loss as he threw 1 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on three hits, with one strikeout and one walk in his relief appearance.
Logan Baisley delivered a clean 1 1/3 innings without surrendering a hit or run, though he did hit two batters. Meanwhile,
Elliot Cadieux Lanoue pitched one inning, giving up one run on two hits while striking out two. Ryan Rushing provided 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, conceding just one hit.
Brett Patten and Ian Collier led the Owls' offensive charge, each scoring two runs. Patten also contributed with two hits and an RBI, showcasing his ability to get on base effectively. Meanwhile, Nick Romano made a significant impact by driving in two RBIs and hitting a double, providing crucial support in the lineup.
On the basepaths, Marshall Lipsey proved to be a threat, scoring twice and stealing two bases, which added pressure on the opponent's defense. Garrett Grant was a standout on the mound, pitching three innings of scoreless relief, allowing only one hit while striking out three batters. Brayden Gilson (1-0) was credited with the win after allowing only one hit in two innings of work.
Florida Atlantic took control in the third inning with three runs. Lipsey scored the first run after reaching third on a flyout and scoring on Perazza's groundout. Collier and Patten, who reached base on a single and hit by pitch respectively, scored on John Martinez's double, bringing the score to 3–0.
The Green & Blue responded in the fourth inning. Dempsey singled and advanced to third on
Jaret Nelson's double. Dempsey scored on Merrick Rapoza's sacrifice fly, cutting the deficit to 3–1 after four innings.
In the fifth, the Owls extended their lead. Patten singled and scored on a play that included a fielding error, while Jonathan Lopez reached base and scored on Patrick Ward's single. This increased FAU's advantage to 5–1 after five innings.
FAU added another run in the seventh inning. Collier singled and advanced on a wild pitch before scoring on Patten's double, putting the score at 6–1.
The eighth inning saw FAU further increase its lead with two additional runs. Brando Leroux and Lipsey scored on Nick Romano's double, resulting in an 8–1 lead.
FGCU now heads to DeLand where the Eagles will take on Stetson in a three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series beginning Friday at 6:30 p.m.
