Eagles head to Inverness Intercollegiate after strong season opener

TOLEDO, Oh. – Florida Gulf Coast University's women's golf team continues its Fall 2025 slate Monday when the Eagles travel north to compete in the Inverness Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Toledo. Scheduled for Sept. 15-16 at Inverness Club, the Eagles will go up against 11 other teams participating in the tournament.

FGCU opened the season on a strong note last week, finishing runner-up in the Southern Intercollegiate in Statesboro, GA. The Eagles placed second in the 13-team field with a three-round score of 900 (+36), marking the second straight year they've begun their season with a top-two finish.

Junior Lousiane Gauthier and freshman Jordan Fischer led the way for the Eagles, tying for 11th individually at +9. Gauthier carded rounds of 72–76–77, and Fischer impressed in her collegiate debut with rounds of 74–73–78.

Islay Benoit highlighted the second round with a 72, while Leonie Wulfers carded a team-best eight birdies across the tournament. Sydney Deal rounded out the lineup, tying with Benoit and Wulfers at +12. The Eagles' low round came Monday with a 294, the second-best team round of the tournament. All five Eagles landed finishes inside the top 20.

Following the trip to Toledo, the Eagles will prepare for their next event at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S. C. on Sept. 19-21.
