JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University's Men's Soccer team took home two Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) honors this week.
The Eagles' Caio Oliveria earned a share of this week's Player of the Week honor after posting two goals in FGCU's 2-1 victory against reigning OVC Champion SIUE. He shares the award with North Florida's Jaxon Reinhardt.
"Caio's two goals were fantastic finishes that only certain players are capable of," said head coach
Oliver Twelvetrees. "We look forward to seeing more special moments from him throughout the season."
Victor Lopes claimed the Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Eagles. The senior limited the Cougars to just one goal.
"Victor's defensive effort was admirable," said Twelvetrees. "He blocked shots, won headers and made tackles, doing all the things necessary to win games."
The men's soccer team plays
Utah Valley University in Orem this Thursday. Their first home game of the season is against Florida Memorial University Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.
