Ian Farrow Named ASUN Baseball Player of the Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After a big week at the plate, sophomore Ian Farrow (Merritt Island, Fla./Merritt Island HS) has been named ASUN Baseball Player of the Week.

"Congrats to Ian on this recognition," said head coach Dave Tollett. "He has been a rock in our lineup all season and really turned it up this past week, hitting over .600 and wreaking havoc on the base paths. We are going to depend a lot on him this whole season and I have no doubt that he is up to the challenge."

Farrow helped lead the Eagles to a 4-0 week as he hit .625 (10-for-16) with two home runs, two doubles, six RBI, and 12 runs scored. He also walked five times and was hit by a pitch for a .727 on-base percentage which contributed to an OPS of 1.852.

He started the week going 3-for-5 with a run scored against North Dakota State before having a huge weekend at Stetson to open ASUN play. In game one, he went 5-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, five RBI, and five runs scored, which tied an FGCU single-game record. He also walked and was hit by a pitch as he reached base seven times in the game.

Farrow followed that up by reaching base four more times in game two, coming around to score on all four occasions. The sophomore wrapped up the week with another home run and two runs scored in the series finale against the Hatters.

He is the second Eagle to be named Player of the Week this season after redshirt-junior Brian Ellis (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty HS) took home the honor on February 28th and is the third Eagle to earn ASUN honors overall as sophomore Najer Victor (Philadelphia, Pa./East Ridge HS) earned Pitcher of the Week on February 21st.

Farrow and the rest of the Green and Blue will be back in action tomorrow when they host South Florida. First pitch from Swanson Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m.
