The FGCU men’s tennis team began Atlantic Sun Conference play with two victories over Lipscomb and Kennesaw State. Oliver Landert led the Eagles by bringing home three points over the weekend. 
On Friday, Landert and Eduardo Alfonzo took down John Tougher and Kauai Linardi 6-4 in doubles. Landert then earned clinching point for the Green & Blue against Thais Minet with a 6-4 6-4 triumph in singles. The sophomore transfer helped the Eagles win another valuable singles point by defeating Alejandro Valencia in straight sets against Kennesaw State on Saturday. He won the first set, 6-0, before coming back from a 5-1 deficit in the 2nd set to win, 7-5.
The Eagles began their title defense earning two hard-fought 4-3 victories. Landert´s victories turned out to be crucial for the FGCU men’s tennis team in order to win the A-Sun Conference title again.
