Racquel Fournet was named A-Sun Player of the Week by earning two wins over the defending Atlantic Sun Champions USC Upstate. The freshman becomes the first Eagle to win the award twice in the same season since 2014. Fournet drove a 2-2 offering over the fence in right, increasing FGCU’s lead to 3-0 in the first five innings. She had her sixth home run of the season and her 32nd and 33rd RBls, walked in the contest and scored three runs in a 10-2 run-rule win.
The Windermere-native went 5-for-10 from the plate this past week, driving in four runs on a double and two home runs while walking twice.
Fournet guided the Eagles to their second and third wins ever in Spartanburg S.C. while positioning FGCU in second place in the conference standings.
