The FGCU men’s soccer team suffered a tough season-ending loss in overtime against USC Upstate in the Atlantic Sun semifinal game at the FGCU Soccer Complex Saturday. FGCU took the lead against Upstate early on when senior forward Skylar Wilks (Tampa, Fla/Newsome HS) scored off an assist from Dylan Sacramento in which Wilks took just one touch to send the ball in the net in the 11th minute. It was Wilks’ fifth goal of the season which was crucial in giving the Eagles momentum for the rest of the game. Wilks also added an assist on an Albert Ruiz (Barcelona, Spain/UE Cornella/CE L’Hospitalet) goal to finish with three points on the night. FGCU finished with a 17-10 shot advantage including three shots from Wilks. Despite these efforts, FGCU lost to Upstate who advanced to the championship game next Saturday.
