@FGCUEagles Kick Off Canned Food Drive For November Home Events On Friday

FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU Athletics officials announced Tuesday a charitable canned food drive as part of the #FEEDFGCU campaign which will take place throughout the month of November at all Eagles' home events to benefit the FGCU Campus Food Pantry.

Beginning with an ASUN men's soccer quarterfinal on Friday, fans will have the opportunity to donate canned goods at up to 14 home events throughout the month of November.

Boxes will be posted at the marketing tables upon entry into each venue, and FGCU hopes to be the top donating university in the ASUN. The food will go directly to the FGCU Campus Food Pantry to help students experiencing food insecurity.

This marks the fourth-straight November that FGCU Athletics officials have held a canned food drive. Last year, ASUN SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) programs at each school combined to raise 3,022 canned items for local partners, with FGCU providing 233 of those. The total surpassed the previous year's total of 2,500. The 3,022 items was enough to provide approximately 2,520 meals. A similar drive is also scheduled to occur for April home FGCU events.

FGCU Athletics officials sponsor events throughout the year to benefit the FGCU Campus Food Pantry (www.fgcu.edu/foodpantry), one of the department's charities of choice. For more information, including how to make a contribution, please visit www.fgcu.edu/foodpantry and utilize the hashtag #FEEDFGCU on Twitter to help raise awareness.
