@FGCU_Baseball’s Brady Anderson Named Summer Collegiate All-American

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Another FGCU baseball pitcher had his name placed among some of the best in the nation as rising redshirt senior Brady Anderson was named by Perfect Game as a Third Team Summer Collegiate All-American.

Anderson (Arcadia, Fla./DeSoto County HS) posted stellar numbers out of the bullpen for the Willmar (Minn.) Stingers in the Northwoods League, leading the league with 19 saves – five more than anyone else in the 18-team league. In fact, Anderson's 19 saves are the most of any pitcher listed on the four summer all-American teams (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Honorable Mention).

In 23 appearances with the Stingers, Anderson logged 24.1 innings this summer, striking out 32, walking just two and allowing only two extra-base hits. He finished with a 1.85 ERA, scattering 24 hits and surrendering five runs.

Anderson started the summer by converting 17 straight save opportunities from June 11 through Aug. 1 and capped the year by closing out 19 of the 20 chances he had. He will leave the Northwoods League as its all-time saves leader with 39, surpassing the previous mark of 32 set by Chad Dawson from 2006-07.

A right-hander, Anderson – who also recorded a hit during the summer (1-3 combined in three games) – earned a spot in the Northwoods League All-Star Game for the third-straight summer and started on the mound for the South team in late July. He tossed 1.2 innings but took the loss as he allowed two runs – only one of which was earned – while surrendering a hit, a walk and a strike out.

"It's another great honor for Brady," stated FGCU head coach Dave Tollett. "To be included as one of the best relievers in the country during the summer speaks volumes about the talent and ability Brady has. It's also a testament to him that he's extended this run of success across multiple summers for the same team."

Anderson is one of just eight total relief pitchers included on the four teams – two on each. Each summer, Perfect Game showcases its top standouts from all of college baseball's leagues. In a further testament to the talent Anderson faced all summer, the Northwoods League had eight total players named to the teams – second to only the 10 produced by the Cape Cod League.

Anderson is joined by Stetson's Mitchell Jordan as the only Atlantic Sun Conference representatives as Mitchell landed on the First Team as a starting pitcher after spending the summer in the Cape and posting a 6-0 record with a 0.20 ERA.
