As the FGCU baseball team gears up for its second-ever trip to the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament this week, the Eagles were honored by the league coaches with five postseason accolades. Headlining the recognition, sophomore right-hander Ricky Knapp was named the A-Sun Pitcher of the Year, as well as, one of just two unanimous selections to the All-Conference first team, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.

Needing a doubleheader sweep on the final day of the regular season to the Atlantic Sun Tournament, the FGCU baseball team did just that with a pair of 5-4 victories at Stetson on Saturday at Melching Field.

Inclement weather in the DeLand, Fla. area has resulted in a postponement of game two in the Atlantic Sun weekend series between the FGCU baseball team and Stetson. The teams are now slated for a doubleheader on Saturday morning at Melching Field at Conrad Park.

Following a three-hour weather delay, the FGCU baseball team was able to take game one of the crucial three-game Atlantic Sun weekend series with Stetson, 6-2, behind yet another solid outing from sophomore right-hander Ricky Knapp on Thursday evening in DeLand, Fla.

The Atlantic Sun regular season schedule comes to a close this weekend, as the FGCU baseball team wraps up the league slate with a trip to DeLand, Fla. to face Stetson for a three-game set. Battling for one of the six spots in the A-Sun postseason tournament, the Eagles open the series with a 6:30 p.m. start on Thursday evening at Melching Field at Conrad Park.

After getting through three full innings, the FGCU baseball team's final non-conference game at No. 21 Miami on Tuesday night was cancelled due to lightning and rain in the area. The game was the deciding contest in the season series between the two clubs that is tied at 1-1.

With the regular season slate quickly coming to a close, the FGCU baseball team is set to travel to Coral Gables, Fla. on Tuesday for its final non-conference contest against No. 21 Miami. The Eagles and Hurricanes are scheduled for a 6 p.m. first pitch at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

Trailing 8-2 entering the bottom of the ninth, the FGCU baseball team scored four runs and brought the potential game-winning run to the plate, but came up just short in its comeback effort in an 8-6 loss to Belmont in the Atlantic Sun weekend finale at Swanson Stadium on Sunday.
