The FGCU women's soccer team begins preparation to defend its four-consecutive Atlantic Sun Regular Season Championships with five exhibitions this spring against familiar competition.

FGCU women's soccer player Paulina Speckmaier has been selected to join the Venezuela U-20 National Team at the South American Championship being held in Montevideo, Republic of Uruguay Jan. 13-31. The event doubles as a qualifier for the 2014 U-20 World Cup that will be held in Canada.

Sophomore Ally Kasun (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield HS) of the FGCU women's soccer team has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Southeast Region Third Team, marking the second-consecutive season the NSCAA has included her on the list.

The FGCU women's soccer team (13-3-4, 7-0-2 Atlantic Sun) out-shot Jacksonville University (12-7-1, 6-3 A-Sun) 31-7 in Sunday afternoon's A-Sun Championship Game but were unable to find the back of the net and ultimately fell 5-3 in penalty kicks after double-overtime failed to produce a winner.

The FGCU women's soccer team (13-3-3, 7-0-2 Atlantic Sun) will take the field on Sunday afternoon in front of its home crowd with its sights set on a third-consecutive Atlantic Sun women's soccer championship. Only Jacksonville University (12-7, 6-3) stands in the Eagles' path.

For the third-consecutive season, the FGCU women's soccer team (13-3-3, 7-0-2 Atlantic Sun) earned the right to play for the A-Sun Championship on its home field, defeating Mercer, 2-0, on Friday night. The Eagles will meet 2-seed Jacksonville University, who defeated Kennesaw State in the first semifinal match, on Sunday at 1 p.m.
