TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – With two rounds played, the FGCU women’s golf team maintained the 10th position in the team rankings at FSU Match Up at Southwood Golf Course Saturday.

In the matchup rankings, in which FGCU is paired with Atlantic Sun foe Mercer University, the team sits in fifth place with a score of 763 through two rounds.

“Today we seemed to struggle a little more, even though we shot the same scores,” explained head coach Sarah Trew. “We short-sided ourselves a lot and that makes for a long day.  We are very capable of putting up a good score but we need to get out of our own way and not make things more difficult than they need to be.”

Individually, the Eagles were again led by Briana Carlson (Inverness, Fla./Citrus High School.  Carlson tied for 28th place after producing a second-round score of +4.  Carlson holds a tournament card of 152.

Megan Van Etten (Trinity, Fla./J.W. Mitchell HS) cut one stroke off her first-round score to produce a 78 on Saturday.  Van Etten currently ranks tied at 43rd with a total score of 157.

Mei Khuan Yong (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia/S.M.K. Cochrane) finished the second round with a total score of 161 for a tie at 55th.  Yong carded an 82 in the second round.  Sara Detlefsen (Eagan, Minn./Minnesota Virtual Academy) rounded out the team’s lineup with a score of 85 on Saturday.  Detlefsen ranks 57th in the field with a total card of 162.
