ORLANDO, Fla. – Second and fourth place finishes from senior Barrie Cohen (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional HS) and junior Kelly Perzanowski (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville HS) helped the FGCU women’s cross country earn a third place finish at the Walt Disney World Classic in Orlando, Fla. Saturday morning.

Cohen came in with a time of 19:00.40, behind Tulane’s Paige Callahan, who finished first with a time of 18:53.70. Perzanowski followed Cohen when she finished with a time of 19:12.20.

“As a team, we really had a great trip, and enjoyed the great atmosphere provided by Disney meet management” said head coach Cassandra Goodson. “I was really happy for Barrie Cohen getting an impressive 2nd individual overall out if 233 participants; Kelly had a good day too with 4th overall. The Women's team improved their performance from last year so I'm satisfied with the overall effort.”

The second place finish by Cohen was the highest ever finish by an FGCU student-athlete at the Walt Disney World Classic. Cohen placed seventh in this event last year.

Malone took home first place with a score of 74, followed by Tulane (83), FGCU (109), Regis (Colo.) (150) and Clayton State (190) to round out the top five teams.

Freshman Courtney Corradetti (San Diego, Ca./Vista HS) was the third FGCU competitor to finish when she took 21st place with a time of 19:58.60. Sophomore Ali Wilbur (Saint James City, Fla./Ida S. Baker HS) finished the competition with a time of 20:26.80 in 33rd place, followed by junior Gretchen MacMillan (Ocala, Fla./West Port HS) who finished 56th with a time of 20:55.70.

Freshman Kelsey English (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township HS) finished 73rd with a time of 21:20.60. Classmate Savanah Lacey (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo HS) and senior Alyssa Sawyer (Key West, Fla./Key West HS) were the final FGCU competitors to finish with times of 22:22.40 and 23:15.70, respectively.

The Eagles will return to Orlando, Fla. October, 12 to compete in the UCF Black & Gold Challenge Friday night. The women’s event is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
