Women's Cross Country Finishes Second at FGCU Invitational

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU women’s cross country team finished second for the second straight year at the FGCU Invitational Friday evening at Buckingham Property. Leading the Eagles in the race was junior Kelly Perzanowski (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville HS), who finished second in the 5K race with a time of 18:16.5.

The Eagles finished second with a team score of 57 behind fellow Atlantic Sun member Lipscomb, who took home the title with a total team score of 19. FAU finished third with a score of 100, followed by FIU in fourth and Stetson in fifth place.

Senior Barrie Cohen (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional HS) was second to finish for the Eagles in 10th overall with a time of 19:08.5. Freshman Courtney Corradetti (San Diego, Ca./Vista HS) was right behind Cohen finishing in 11th with a time 19:13.1.

Sophomore Ali Wilbur (Saint James City, Fla./Ida S. Baker HS) finished in 21st place with a time of 20:26.4 and junior Gretchen MacMillan (Ocala, Fla./West Port HS) came in at 20:37.8, good for 23rd place.

Junior Caity Hoffman (Garnerville, N.Y./Albertus Mangus HS) and freshman Savanah Lacey (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo HS) finished back-to-back with times of 21:22.0 and 21:29.8 respectively. Freshman Kelsey English (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township HS) rounded out the competitors for FGCU when she came in at 22:58.7.

The race provided an opportunity for the Green and Blue to preview the course which will host the 2012 Atlantic Sun Conference Championship later this year.

The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, September 15, when they travel to Gainesville, Fla. for the UF Gator Invitational.
